New road access is changing how we refer patients
Since the Tabubil to Telefomin Highway opened, patients needing services we cannot provide can be moved by road as well as by air. Our referral protocol has been updated accordingly.
Hospital management, in consultation with the West Sepik Provincial Health Authority, has revised the district referral pathway. Road transfer to Tabubil is now the first option for stable patients, with air evacuation reserved for time-critical cases and poor road conditions.
