Incident reporting

If something goes wrong, tell us

Patients, families, staff and visitors can all report an incident, a safety concern or a complaint. Reports are reviewed by hospital management every month and used to improve care.

What to report

Patient safety incidents, medication errors, near misses, equipment failures, infection control concerns, staff conduct, and anything that put a person at risk.

How to report

Use the contact form below and choose “Incident report”, speak to the nurse in charge, drop a note in the suggestion box at outpatients, or write to the CEO.

What happens next

You will receive an acknowledgement within five working days, an investigation where needed, and a written outcome. Reports may be made anonymously.

Reporting is welcomed, not penalised

No patient will receive lesser care, and no staff member will be disciplined, for making an honest report. Open reporting is how a hospital gets safer.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we are asked most

No. The outpatient clinic is walk-in from Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, and Saturday morning 8:00am to 12:00pm. The emergency room is open at all times and never requires an appointment. Some clinics, such as antenatal, TB and chronic disease review, run on set days, so ask at reception for the current schedule.

Bring your health record book, any medicines you are currently taking in their original packets, and your clinic card if you have one. If you are being admitted, bring bedding, a change of clothes and eating utensils. If an aid post or health centre referred you, bring the referral note.

Fees are set in line with national policy for church health services and are displayed at the reception desk. You will be told what a service costs before it is provided. No patient is turned away from emergency care because they cannot pay, so please speak to the administration office about your situation.

Yes. One wasman or carer may stay with each admitted patient. Visiting hours for other family members are 10:00 to 11:00am and 3:00 to 5:00pm daily. Please keep the wards quiet and follow the instructions of the nurse in charge.

By air to Telefomin Airport (TFM) on third-level and charter services, or by road on the Tabubil to Telefomin Highway, which opened in September 2025 and connects through Tabubil and Kiunga. See the map and travel routes below, and always confirm current flight schedules and road conditions before you travel.

Yes. Apply in writing to the administration office with proof of identity. Records for another person require their written consent, or proof that you are their legal guardian or next of kin. There may be a small copying fee.

Speak to the nurse in charge first, as most concerns are resolved on the ward. If you are not satisfied, use the contact form below and choose “Incident report”, or write to the Chief Executive Officer. You will receive an acknowledgement within five working days and a written outcome after review.

Yes, through the CEO’s office and by prior written arrangement. Clinical volunteers need current PNG registration and a police clearance, and placements are normally a minimum of four weeks. Please do not book travel before your placement is confirmed in writing.
