Build your career where it counts most
Vacant positions, the qualifications we look for, and how promotion works at Telefomin Baptist District Hospital.
Rural practice, real responsibility
At a district hospital you see everything, you decide quickly, and your work is visible to the community you live in. It is demanding, and it is the best clinical training there is.
Staff housing
On-station housing is provided for appointed staff, subject to availability.
Training support
Study leave and support for registration, upskilling and specialist training.
Road and air access
Telefomin is now connected by highway to Tabubil as well as by air.
Christian workplace
A staff devotion each morning, and a team that supports one another.
What we are recruiting for
Positions at Telefomin Baptist District Hospital are advertised as they open, across clinical, administration and support roles. Rather than list them here, where they would quickly fall out of date, we publish a single summary document and keep it current.
Download the summary to see what is open right now. Each entry gives the position, the qualifications required and the closing date. If one of them suits you, follow the instructions under How to apply.
Vacancies are also posted on our Facebook page and on the noticeboard at the hospital.
We accept expressions of interest from qualified health workers at any time. Send your CV to the Human Resource Manager.

How advancement works here
Promotion is by merit, against written criteria, decided by a panel. Not by seniority alone, and not by relationship.
Documented performance review
Every staff member has a documented annual review with their department head against their job description and agreed goals.
Advertised internally first
Promotion opportunities go on the staff noticeboard first, with the criteria and the closing date stated.
Assessed against written criteria
A panel including the Human Resource Manager, the relevant department head and a management representative assesses each applicant.
Written outcome and feedback
Every applicant receives the outcome in writing. Unsuccessful applicants are offered feedback and a development plan.
Training and study leave
Staff pursuing post-basic qualifications, upgrading or specialist training may apply for study leave and support through the Human Resource Manager.
Sending your application
Address your application to the Human Resource Manager, Telefomin Baptist District Hospital, and put the position title in your subject line.

- Your curriculum vitae, with contact details for two referees
- Certified copies of your qualifications and current registration
- A current police clearance certificate
